Bryats Band

Bryats Band is a Ukrainian indie folk band blending modern folk, classical crossover, world music and rock. Its distinctive sound is built around accordion, Ukrainian kobza, piano, ukulele and electric rock balalaika.

The band pioneered the world’s first electric balalaika (rock balalaika), transforming a traditional folk instrument into a powerful contemporary voice. In 2008, Bryats Band released its first album, Bryats-Band, recorded with the newly created instrument and spanning an extraordinary musical range — from Vivaldi’s Storm and System of a Down’s Aerials to the virtuosic progressive rock of Liquid Tension Experiment’s Acid Rain.

International competition winners, Bryats Band has performed across Europe and Asia, including the International Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo under the patronage of Monaco’s Princely Family and performances in the UAE at the invitation of members of the Abu Dhabi Royal Family. Since the war in Ukraine, the band has been based in Germany and currently performs as a duo featuring Eugene Kazantsev and Sergi Trotsenko, collaborating with guest musicians for selected concerts and projects.
